What to Expect With Shockwave Therapy
Gel is applied to the specified treatment area to enhance the effectiveness of the Shockwave Therapy. After these preparations, EPAT® pressure waves are released via the applicator which is moved over the primary pain point and surrounding tissue.
Treatments are performed weekly for 4-6 weeks. Treatments typically take 12-15 minutes per site.
The beneficial effects of Shockwave Therapy, also known as Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT®), are often noticed after only 3 treatments. Some patients report immediate pain relief after the treatment, although it can take up to 4 weeks for pain relief to begin.
